Bermuda Clay Court Championships
Our famed Autumn tennis tournament has been rejuvenated and reinvigorated as the Bermuda Clay Court Championships. After the success of the 2015 Tournament, the 2016 Tournament will take place from October 23rd to October 29th. To our loyal and faithful tournament followers, we know it just won’t be a tournament without you, so save the date, mark your calendars early and call your friends.
To those who have not played in this wonderful tournament before, this is one not to be missed: enjoy a week of competitive and fun tennis on eight clay courts with perfect weather, fine dining and all the recreational amenities Coral Beach & Tennis Club has to offer, and plenty of evening social opportunities to meet fellow international members and locals alike. And the sea is still pleasantly warm enough to swim in.
Watch this space and the News section of the website for more details on the tournament and the entry form.
Foxie Cooper Cup
The Foxie Cooper Cup, named after a hotelier, long-time member of the Club and a keen supporter of tennis, is an annual Christmas tournament competed for by members and their children aged Under 16. In 2015, the tournament was held on Boxing Day. It’s an excellent way to work off some of the pounds from Christmas Dinner, and a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to enjoy time together while getting some exercise!
Polly Hornburg Trophy
Polly Hornburg is famous in Bermuda for founding iconic Front Street store Calypso, but she was also a strong support of Coral Beach. This tournament is similar to the The Foxie Cooper Cup, but it is competed for by members and their children aged Under 13 – thus giving younger player a chance to enjoy some time in the limelight. In 2015, the tournament was held on New Year’s Day. It’s an excellent way to start keeping those New Year’s Resolutions, and to spend time with family before school and work resume.
BLTA Open Singles Challenge 2015
The tournament is open to the public and will be sanctioned by the BLTA. It will also serve as a mandatory selection qualification to Bermuda’s 2015 National Team for Davis Cup and Fed Cup squads. All of Bermuda’s locally based national players are expected to participate. This selection criteria will make for very exciting local competition.
The tournament starts on Wednesday, April 8th and runs until Saturday April 11th. On April 8th, 9th & 10th matches will take place between 5:30pm & 9:30pm. The finals will be held on Saturday, April 11th, with the ladies singles final starting at 1pm and the men’s finals at 3pm.
Entry forms will be issued by the BLTA on Monday, March 30th.

Jimmy Loutit Memorial Tennis Tournament
The Loutit Cup is held in honor of James “Jimmy” Loutit. James was born in Santiago, Chile around 1910, before being educated in Edinburgh, Scotland. He eventually settled in New York, where he joined AIG and worked with CV Star running AIG’s Shanghai operations in China. After World War II he moved back to the US and eventually to Bermuda. James’s hard work help to shape Bermuda’s insurance industry as we know it today. He brought his family and their love of tennis to the club and we were honored to have his family and his son Bob in attendance for the 2015 Memorial Tournament.
The Loutit Cup is held annually in March.
